For those of you that follow this blog, you know that I saw a case for citizens of Seattle suing their government over the development of CHAD or CHOPS or whatever they call themselves.
The residents and business owners have every right to expect the government to uphold the law and protect them from this kind of mayhem.
The city of Seattle and its Mayor obviously thought it was within their rights to support one cause over another, which means protestors’ and rioters’ agendas vs. the average business and residents’ rights. The State of Washington and the City of Seattle were both aware of their responsibilities to the citizens and taxpayers of their state, and they chose to ignore them to support a cause. Whether or not it’s a good cause or a bad cause doesn’t matter. They are legally bound to perform their duties to the letter of the law.
Every State in the U.S. should carefully observe these proceedings and use them as a forewarning of things to come if they choose to act on their individual opinions and desires over their civic duties.
I’ll also add that I think civil suits against the mayor should also be on the table. She chose a personal path, and therefore she should pay personally.
